The finalists set to contest for Africa’s crown in the CAF African Schools Football Championship were officially decided on Thursday evening, as the tournament approaches an exciting photo-finish on Friday, 24 May in Zanzibar.

The action got underway in the boys’ division in the afternoon, with Tanzania powering into the finals following a 2-0 win over Benin in the first fixture of the day at the Amaan Stadium.

In the other semi-final encounter, Guinea took on Senegal in a tightly contested affair that ended goalless, for the finalist to be decided on penalties, with Guinea edging Senegal 4-3.

The girls section closed off an exciting CAF African Schools Football Championship semi-finals evening with Morocco edging Uganda 1-0, before an evenly balanced duel between tournament favourites, Tanzania and South Africa saw the hosts bowing out of the competition after losing 1-0 to the latter.

Ahead of the two finals on Friday, the third-place play off will take place between Senegal and Benin for the boys section, before Tanzania take on Uganda for the girls bronze medal.

The youth competition comes to a grand closing on Friday with plenty of entertainment lined up, along with a closing ceremony to officially bring the second season of the competition to a close.

All the action, starting with the bronze medal play-offs in the afternoon will be live on CAF’s official YouTube channel, CAF TV.
