Uganda Cranes Head Coach Put Paul Joseph has summoned a squad of 28 players to embark on preparations for the forthcoming 2026 FUFA World Cup Qualifiers.
The coach revealed the squad on Thursday in a press conference held at FUFA Complex in Mengo, Kampala.
Uganda will return to Mandela National Stadium, Namboole for the first time since 2019.
The first game against Botswana will be played on 7th June before taking on Algeria on 10th June 2024.
It should be noted that both games will be played under the floodlights with kickoff time being 7:00PM EAT.
Coach Put indicated he has been in close contact with the players summoned and believes they will be up for the task.
“I believe the players summoned are in the right shape and in perfect condition to represent the country,” he stated.
He also stated that it will be important for Uganda Cranes to return to Namboole.
“Uganda Cranes returning to Namboole is a big motivation for us because the fans have missed the chance to watch the team. I believe the players will also be motivated to play at home again.”
The team is expected to enter residential camp on 30th May 2024.
