In sports, every athlete dreams of making history by breaking records and leaving a lasting legacy. They push themselves to go beyond their limits and achieve things that were considered impossible before.

As we gear up for the historic 50th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup to be played on Saturday, 25th May 2024, at the Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku, we bring you the story of Paul Mucureezi who has reached a milestone by making it to his sixth Uganda Cup final. The Kigezi born player has lifted the trophy in three of the five finals he has played in and is looking forward to lifting his fourth with Kitara FC. Mucureezi has also contributed tremendously to his team reaching this stage including coverting three times against his former employers Vipers SC in at the quarter stage.

While speaking to www.fufa.co.ug, Mucureezi attributed this milestone to his dedication to leaving a legacy wherever he goes.

Reaching the sixth final is a great feeling and a big achievement in my career. I am so excited about it because reaching such a milestone isn’t a walk in the park. It calls for hard work, dedication and commitment’ said Mucureezi before adding ‘What has guided me is trying to maintain my performance since starting professional football with KCCA FC. Wherever I go, I try to put on a show with the intention of leaving a mark.

Speaking about the upcoming final against NEC FC on Saturday, 25th May 2024, he said that it will require teamwork from everyone at the club to win the Cup.

With this upcoming final, I’m only thinking about lifting the trophy. Though our opponents are also preparing for the same, we shall give our best as players under the guidance of our technical team with support from the administrators and our lovely fans.

In 2014, Mucureezi guided KCCA FC to his first career Uganda Cup final against SC Villa at Kyamate in a game which was replayed at Mandela National Stadium though his team lost 3-1. He guided KCCA again in 2017 where they beat Paidha Black Angels 2-0. In 2018, Mucureezi reached the final with KCCA FC in a game played at Emokori Grounds, Bukedea against Vipers and the Kasasiro boys won 1-0. His last final appearance was in 2021 against BUL FC where Vipers humiliated BUL FC with an 8-0 victory.

Can Mucureezi lift his fourth Stanbic Uganda Cup ?
