Morocco won the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday. In terms of individual accolades, the Atlas Lions won almost everything.
Very active in this journey of the Atlas Lions, Bilal Bakkali, who scored 5 goals, was crowned the best player of the tournament. Enough to crown all his efforts in the service of his selection.
Soufian Charraoui was crowned top scorer. Author of a hat-trick against Angola in the opener, the Moroccan player once again distinguished himself with two doubles. First against Ghana in the Atlas Lions’ second outing, and then in the 13-0 thrashing of Zambia on matchday three of the group stage.
But he won’t be leaving alone with this title. Two Angolans (Chico and Helber) have the same record of 7 goals.
The title of best goalkeeper of the competition was also won by Morocco. With only 6 goals conceded in 5 games, the Atlas Lions goalkeeper is rewarded for his talent and his decisive role in this title.
Eliminated in the group stage with a sad total of three matches, three defeats, 8 goals scored and 24 conceded, Ghana still leaves with a memory. The Black Stars lifted the title of Fair Play Selection.
This competition held in Morocco was an opportunity for FIFA and CAF to reiterate their commitment to the development of Futsal, as evidenced by the presence of Patrice Motsepe and Gianni Infantino at the Grand Final.
