The Vice President and Woman MP for Katakwi district Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo has this afternoon interacted with the muslim community of Katakwi district and called upon parents to sacrifice more towards educating their children.
The vice president said the move would help the Muslims to develope their families, Muslim community and Uganda as a whole.
She made the call during her interaction with Katakwi Muslim community on a range of development matters ahead of tomorrow’s Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Alupo also used the opportunity to extend her gifts to the muslims who were drawn from all mosques within Katakwi for tomorrow’s celebration.
The Vice President also called upon Muslims to take advantage of the newly launched Islamic Banking services in the country.
Islamic banking is a phrase used to refer to the banking services that follow Islamic principles, which bar the charging of interest on a loan (RIBA)
However, it provides for the lender to take interest in the beneficiary project and at the end of it, share in the profits or losses of the project.
She explained that the newly launched Salaam Bank will enable all Muslims fully enjoy banking services including access to Parish Development Model funds.
“Now there’s no reason why the Muslim community should not enjoy fully the banking services including access to Parish Development Model funds for household wealth creation,” Alupo said.
The vice president said the NRM Government under the able leadership of president Yoweri Museveni will continue to partner with the Muslim community in development and household wealth creation.
She said we should endeavor to see that divine practices do not stop at the end of this holy month, but continue to prevail as our norms always.
