The Police apprehended 12 suspects and successfully recovered five stolen motorcycles during their pursuit of a robbery suspect who had fled with another stolen bike.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the authorities made significant progress in resolving an aggravated robbery case reported on April 2, 2024, involving Felix Muganzi, a 23-year-old boda boda operator.

Owoyesigyire provided details of the incident, stating that Muganzi was attacked while carrying out his duties as a boda boda operator. Two individuals, identified as Joel Amanya and another only known as Ibrah, hired Muganzi for transportation to the Nakuwade area. However, upon reaching a poorly lit area, they viciously attacked Muganzi with a panga, attempting to rob him of his motorcycle, with registration number UEN 484A. Despite the ordeal, Muganzi bravely resisted and managed to overpower one of the assailants, Amanya, with the help of local residents. Unfortunately, the other perpetrator fled the scene with Muganzi’s motorcycle.

The swift response of the Bulenga Police Station led to the apprehension of Amanya and the recovery of Muganzi’s stolen motorcycle. Furthermore, during the investigation, the police discovered a cache of five suspected stolen motorcycles and eight motorcycle number plates at Ali Muganda’s Garage in Natete.

As part of the ongoing investigation, 12 individuals were arrested to assist law enforcement. They were identified as Peter Buye, Enock Kizza, Isma Kayondo, Edward Ssenyondo, Joseph Sekiwala, Mahadhi Ssempijja, Swabul Luwaga, Christopher Lujja, Muzamir Sseruga, Dan Mukuye, and Abdul Birungi Mutwalib.

The police assured the public that investigations into the matter are ongoing, with a commitment to bringing all individuals involved in the criminal activity to justice. Efforts to locate and apprehend the owner of Muganda Ali Garage, identified as Ali Muganda, are currently underway.

The Bulenga and Wakiso Police extended their gratitude to the community for their cooperation and assistance in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen property. They urged anyone with information on this case or similar incidents to come forward and assist law enforcement in maintaining peace and security within the community.
