Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) president, Mr. Jimmy Akena, emphasized the need for opposition political parties to refrain from exposing their weaknesses to the media in a statement addressing the state of affairs within Uganda’s political landscape. Instead, he urged them to focus on strengthening internal conflict resolution mechanisms to foster unity and effectiveness.
Expressing disappointment at the current state of affairs within the opposition, Mr. Akena underscored the significance of presenting a united front to the Ugandan populace, particularly those anticipating a transition in leadership. He emphasized the urgency of addressing internal challenges within parties like the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Unity Platform (NUP) to ensure they remain focused on their collective struggle for change.
Mr. Akena expressed his concern regarding internal conflicts within political parties, stating that such disputes detract from the larger goal of advancing the democratic process in Uganda. He emphasized the necessity for political parties to prioritize organizational efficiency and effective governance to fulfill their responsibilities to the electorate.
Highlighting his commitment to unity and stability within Uganda’s political landscape, Mr. Akena stressed the importance of all political parties delivering on their promises and working diligently to address internal shortcomings. He urged parties to focus on building robust structures and fostering internal cohesion to navigate the challenges ahead.
