The management of Kabale Technical Institute has lamented the state of roads in their community, stating that it is impeding studies at the institution.
They disclosed this over the weekend while their students, along with other community members, were rehabilitating the Kekubo-Kasazo road.
The road, previously in poor condition, connects Kabale town to many villages surrounding Lake Bunyonyi.
Speaking to our reporter after rehabilitating a 1km road from the institution to Kekubo Trading Center, a suburb of Kabale Municipality, the Guild President Ariho Micheal and his deputy, Ninshaba Evas, decried the high cost of transportation charged by bodaboda riders and taxi drivers.
They added that the situation worsens, especially during rainy seasons, where students would fall or fail to reach the institution altogether.
The Deputy Principal of Kabale Technical Institute, Dominic Mubangizi, stated that the poor state of the Kekubo-Kasazo road has been dissuading students from enrolling in the institution.
He urged intervention from the district to improve the road, emphasizing the need for drainage channels and culverts.
