Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Gears Up for Electing New Student Leader

In an unexpected turn of events, the renowned Social Media Sensation and former Guild Presidential hopeful, Juma Wasswa Balunywa, alongside his Campaign Manager Enricho, announced their official endorsement of Amanya Moses, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, in the upcoming MUBS Guild Presidential race.

The endorsement comes just days before MUBS is set to hold its polls on March 22nd, determining who will lead the student body for the academic year 2024/2025. Amanya Moses is facing off against Chopre Steward representing the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Luswata Benedict from the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD).

Juma Wasswa Balunywa, a notable figure in MUBS circles, had initially thrown his hat into the ring, drawing attention for his charismatic campaign and promise of student-centered policies. However, his bid was cut short due to a disqualification stemming from academic reasons, particularly a retake.

Despite this setback, Balunywa remains an influential voice among MUBS students, and his endorsement of Amanya Moses is expected to have a significant impact on the upcoming election.

Speaking about his endorsement, Balunywa stated, “I believe Amanya Moses embodies the qualities needed to lead MUBS into a new era of progress and unity. His dedication to student welfare and innovative ideas make him the perfect candidate to represent our interests.”

Amanya Moses, the NRM candidate, has campaigned on platforms of improving student facilities, enhancing academic resources, and fostering a more inclusive campus environment. His candidacy has garnered support from various student groups, and now with Balunywa’s backing, his momentum is expected to surge even further.

With the MUBS student body eagerly anticipating the election day, all eyes are now on the three candidates vying for the esteemed position of Guild President. The outcome of this race will undoubtedly shape the direction of student affairs at MUBS for the coming year.

As the clock ticks down to March 22nd, students are urged to exercise their right to vote and participate actively in choosing their next leader, one who will champion their aspirations and elevate the MUBS community as a whole.
