The speaker of parliament Anita Annet Among has revealed that the social media campaign against the institution of parliament is a result of parliament passing the Anti Homosexuality bill which angered the supporters of the vice.
This followed the leader of the opposition Joel Ssenyonyi and the Lwemiyaga county MP Theodore Ssekikubo pressing the speaker to explain to the members of parliament the parliament stands on the ongoing campaign that reveals the misuse of public funds.
Although members of parliament including Jessica Ababiku the woman MP of Adjumani district, Sarah Opendi the Tororo district woman MP, and Muhammad Nsereko of Kampala central had wanted the debate to be halted until the ministerial policy statements were laid, Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo insisted that parliament cannot transact business as nothing has happened.

This week the leader of the opposition Joel Ssenyonyi wrote to the speaker of parliament demanding for urgent reconvening of parliament to discuss the ongoing social media campaign on the alleged misuse of public funds which was reechoed by the Buyaga West MP Barnabas Tinkasimire and Lwemiyaga county MP Theodore Ssekikubo.
