Manchester United returned to winning ways as they beat Everton 2-0 thanks to two first-half penalties, both won by Alejandro Garnacho and converted by Bruno Fernandes and then Marcus Rashford.
As for much of this season, a relegation-battling Everton threatened for most of the match but failed in front of goal, losing for the second match running despite having over 20 shots. They are now 11 matches without victory.
Manchester United shared the penalty-taking duties at Old Trafford to give Erik ten Hag a much-needed win against struggling Everton.
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford each scored from the spot before half-time with both awards given for fouls on Alejandro Garnacho – who had scored a wonder-goal against the same opposition at Goodison in November.
The Red Devils comfortably returned to winning ways at Old Trafford after two first-half penalties from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford downed the Toffees.
After a period of poor form to start the month, Erik ten Hag has now eased the pressure with renewed hopes of a Champions League place.
United move three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham but having played two more games while Everton remain 16th.
Sean Dyche’s side meanwhile are on a woeful streak of 11 games without a victory having not won at all in 2024.
