The Chairperson (UWOPA) Sarah Opendi (Woman MP for Tororo) says although there is economic empowerment for women, they continue to suffer Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and alarming teenage pregnancy in these districts registering over 2000 cases of teenage pregnancies just in a year, with the worst being a 13-year-old girl impregnated by a 14-year-old boy.

She adds that if family strengthening is not focused, putting gov’t funds to empower women will be a waste of time althoughl the gov’t programs for women will be a waste of funds.
