Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) has called for urgent increment of funding of the Education sector and a deliberate move in investment in Public Education
According to UNATU Secretary General Filbert Baguma, the low funding of public education has given lee way to the private institutions to outshine the public institutions hence their exorbitant charges
The “Go Public Fund Education “global campaign on increased funding for Public Education launched in January 2023 by the Education Unions
In the campaign, several objectives of improving the quality of public institutions were made including prioritizing investment in the public institutions, a campaign to be reviewed come 2025

As a part of the Education Unionists around the world in the campaign for improved quality of education for all UNATU has challenge government to honor its commitments
In this financial year 2023/24 52.7bn shilling was allocated to the education sector which according to UNATU may not aid achievement of the SDGs
They have called for a deliberate move to invest in public institutions, address the teaching gaps, and harmonize fees across board.
Uganda is one of those countries in Africa with the most privatized education sector
