Guinea matchwinner Aguibou Camara praised coach Kaba Diawara’s inspirational words after their 1-0 TotalEnegies CAF Africa Cup of Nations win over Gambia.
The 22-year-old Olympiacos midfielder scored the only goal on Friday to be named man of the match.
“I dedicate this award to my late father,” said Camara post-match. “I’ll keep working hard, I’m at this level thanks to my family’s help.”
Camara also highlighted Diawara’s motivational impact on the squad during games.
“Kaba is a coach who pushes us to work. In the changing room he speaks to us and motivates us a lot during matches,” explained Camara.
The goalscorer emphasised he is happy to play wherever required for the team.
“I’m a professional and must remain available to the team. When I play wide, I have to perform,” stated Camara.
“It’s not me who chooses my position, I just make myself available to help the Guinean team.”
After a perfect match where he shone in an advanced midfield role, Camara revealed the inspiration behind his display.
Diawara’s rousing team talks clearly struck a chord as Guinea claimed a vital victory over Gambia.
The young star will hope to have more of an impact in Tuesday’s huge Group C clash with reigning champions Senegal.
