It is with the deepest sorrow that we have this morning recieved the sad news of passing on of our Senior colleague in Parliament now the late Hon. Imat Barbra Cecilia Atim Ogwal in India.
We are devastated by this unspeakable loss to the FDC Party, the Opposition in Parliament, the people of Dokolo District and Lango Subregion, the country at large and the greater cause for Justice and peace.
The Hon. Barbra Atim Cecilia Ogwal, Uganda’s finest of a total woman that has graced the stage of lime light since 1969 as Uganda’s beauty queen, a prolific legislator to date when she breathes her last that have graced the stage in Uganda’s Parliament since Constituent Assembly days.
For her strong, coercive yet salty voice, she could never fail to catch the attention of any Presiding Officer (Speaker). Her leadership, guidance, and occasional stern admonition when taking principled ‘points of order’ at times when Parliament descended into hot debates were admired by Ugandans at large. The FDC Parliamentary Caucus will dearly miss her guidance.
Her command of the language mixed with a vast experience and knowledge base made her deliberations on the floor very much spot on.
The Hon. Cecilia has been politically astute beyond and an all – round leader, par excellence. She will be remembered for her unwavering definiteness of purpose in building a democratic and free Uganda that works for all.
At the apex of her career, she has been a trainer and a leadership couch of especially young legislators and Women leaders. Particularly, She trained the FDC Members of the 11th Parliament at Kyooto in Namugongo and the FDC National Executive Committee at our first retreat in Nabinoonya Beach last year.
On my own behalf, and on behalf of the FDC Parliamentary Caucus which I supretend over as Whip, we condole with the family especially her husband Eng. Ogwal and the children, the FDC Party, the people of Dokolo District, Lango Sub
Region and the country atlarge upon the death of Hon. Imat Cecilia. Its not accurate to say that Uganda will miss her but rather the World will dearly miss Imat Barbra Atim Cecilia
Rest in Peace Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal Barbara.
