Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, is set to reveal Patrick Kanyomozi as the National Unity Platform (NUP) party’s new spokesperson, succeeding Joel Ssenyonyi, following Ssenyonyi’s departure from KFM, sources report.
On December 29, 2023, Kanyomozi, a close associate of Bobi Wine and an advocate for NUP on social media, declared his departure from KFM after 13 years, during which he led the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA). Kanyomozi, the husband of Capital FM Breakfast show co-host Lucky Mbabazi, did not disclose his future plans.
“I made my final appearance on 93.3 KFM this morning as I retire from radio and active journalism. I leave a very contented man because from a very young age, all I ever wanted to do was to be a Radio Presenter, I was lucky to get my first radio job in my S6 vacation and never looked back. I have lived my dream. I give glory to the most high,” he says.
“I am very grateful to everyone that gave me a hand on my radio and journalism journey. To everyone I have worked with or alongside, thank you. Special thanks to Richard Linga and Joseph Beyanga, you know how I walked into those doors. To the listeners, thank you so much, without you I wouldn’t be where I am. Retirement is here, onto the next chapter…. One love,” he added.
A source close to NUP decision-makers informed The Pearl Times that Kanyomozi is the favored choice to replace Joel Ssenyonyi, who recently took over as the leader of the opposition in parliament.
“Principal [Bobi Wine] feels Kanyomozi has everything needed to speak for NUP. He has the experience. He also supports the party, its leader, and has been defending People Power online. He is a vocal voice on social media,” the source said.
