World Cup Qualifiers: Guinea strikes to defeat Uganda in campaign opener
Belgian coach Paul Put started his reign as Cranes head coach on a low after Uganda suffered an agonizing defeat against Guinea in the first match of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The match held on Friday, November 17, ended 2-1 for the West African side with Seydouba Cisse’s winning goal coming just seconds to full-time whistle at the Berkerne Municipal Stadium in Morroco.
Fahad Bayo had earlier in the first half cancelled out Adhibou Camara’s opener as Uganda looked set for a comeback against the hosts of the day.
Guinea stole the show at the death, through a Seydouba Cisse freekick, leaving several Ugandans in heartbreak despite playing well on the night which marked the maiden campaign for Put.
