The High Court has convicted key suspects in the murders of Maria Nagirinya, Ronald Kitayimbwa, and Isabella Trinity Nakisuyi.
In Kampala, High Court Judge Isaac Muwata found Compoliyamu Kasolo, the key suspect in the murder of Maria Nagirinya and Ronald Kitayimbwa, guilty of six offenses against them. He was sentenced to life imprisonment after participating in the kidnap, murder, and aggravated robbery of the victims.
Accordingly, Hassan Kisekka, Nasif Kalyango, and Shafik Mpanga were each sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment for their involvement in the crime. This sentence took into account the time they had already spent on remand. They joined Isaac Ssenabulya, who had earlier pleaded guilty.
In a separate development in Jinja City, the High Court sentenced Felista Namaganda, a 28-year-old female adult, to life imprisonment for sacrificing her landlord’s daughter, Isabella Trinity Nakisuyi, aged 4. Isabella was the daughter of John Mulodi and Annet Nakisasi, residents of Kakira cell in Jinja City. Namaganda’s boyfriend, Pastor Joseph Sselubiri of the Healing and Deliverance Church in Market cell, Kakira Town Council, had pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and an additional 30 years for child trafficking.
The convicts beheaded the 4-year-old female victim and dumped her headless body in a sugarcane plantation in Kakira, Jinja district. Her severed head was recovered in Wanyamge.
The police have expressed gratitude to the public for their trust and patience as they worked with various police units and the office of the DPP to successfully prosecute and convict the suspects. They have also thanked the Judiciary and the respective High Court Judges for their diligent evaluation of the evidence.
