Uganda Revenue Authority on Wednesday trained Members of Uganda Parliamentary Press Association on tax matters.
The training aimed at narrowing the gap between the Parliamentary reporters and the tax body.
The main target for this engagement of both parties is to educate the masses using their news platforms.

Bbosa Ibrahim Kibuuka- URA’s Spokesperson and Assistant Commissioner Public and Corporate Affairs welcomed the idea of training journalists on tax education so that they can sensitize the Public more on too of our sensitisation we carry out on Televisions,Radio Stations.
“Its important that we continue to have these engagement meetings so that you can help us pass on the information about Uganda Revenue Authority to the tax payers”
Yes, many tax payers wake up and see potholes on their way to work and they ask themselves, Why should i continue to pay taxes?
This money caters for alot of services that our people may not know.
For example, how do Soldiers get paid?, how are these roads roads constructed? There are many Services that are catered for with these resources but Ugandans need to be educated more on this. We need to narrow the gap between URA and the Media fraternity. Do not only wait for only Scandals to make lead Stories.
Scandals are every where but we take disciplinary actions against these culprits.
The President of the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association Sam Ibanda Mugabi underscored the importance of training Journalists on the role of URA in tax policy formulation.
Ibanda Mugabi noted that Journalists have their daily platforms of engaging the Public and training them on these tax policies, the public also benefits by getting the right information.
He encouraged Ugandans to embrace paying taxes as globally it’s out of taxes that citizens can realise better services.
Ibanda said this while giving opening remarks in Kampala.
