Kenya emerged as the champions of this year’s Africa Men’s 7s tournament, securing not only the title but also a spot in the 2024 Olympics to be held in France.
The tournament, which showcased the best of African 7’s rugby, had its fair share of ups and downs, with South Africa and Uganda also making headlines.
Uganda, the defending champions from last year’s campaign, faced a tough challenge in their journey to retain their title.

However, it wasn’t the end for Uganda. They battled on and secured a third-place finish by defeating Zimbabwe with 24-12 in the Bronze match.
While this wasn’t the title defence they had hoped for, it was the highest placement they could achieve in this year’s edition.
More importantly, it earned them a ticket to the repechage tournament, providing another opportunity to make it to the 2024 Olympics.
The repechage tournament is a crucial second chance for teams like Uganda and South Africa who finished 3rd and 2nd respectively.
It features the runners-up from various continental rugby 7s competitions, all vying for a single slot in the upcoming Olympics.
The competition is fierce, and these teams will have to give it their all to secure that elusive Olympic berth.
