Abdallah Mubiru has rejected the appointment to take charge of the Crested Cranes as the assistant coach.

FUFA recently announced Mubiru as the Assistant Coach, then replacing Ayub Khalifa.

But iit’s said that Mubiru was not OFFICIALLY consulted before the announcement was made, and the gaffer who coached the Uganda Cranes, has turned down the offer.

In an official statement released very late on Saturday night, FUFA alleged that had earlier on consented before appointment was communicated.

“A few days back, Mr. Mubiru Abdallah was appointed as Assistant coach of the Uganda National Senior (Women’s) Team Crested Cranes,” part of the statement read.

“Whereas the appointment was announced after the consent of Coach Mubiru, he has since communicated that he has developed personal reasons not to take the offer.

FUFA said that they have agreed to assign the national duty task to another person whoo will be identified in the due process.

Its also believed that Mubiru could have taken on the offer if he was the head coach. It’s strong to note that the Women’s side, just like the Men’s, is without a head coach.

The Crested Cranes are currently camping at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, preparing to face Algeria in the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the team will continue with the training sessions under coach Ayub Khalifa and Olive Mbekeka as the search for the Head Coach and Assistant of the Crested Cranes continues.

Uganda will host Algeria on Wednesday next week at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru before with the return leg slated for 26th September in Oran.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Algeria will face either Burundi or Ethiopia in the final qualification round.
