The Ugandan media fraternity over the weekend reached yet another milestone as journalist Catherine Byaruhanga was elevated to the role of news anchor at BBC, a global broadcaster based in London, UK.

Through her social media, Ms Byaruhanga revealed the exciting news to her fans describing it as the “start of a new chapter.”
“After a decade reporting from across Africa and other parts of the World, I am starting a new j ob as a presenter and correspondent,” Byaruhanga said in a post via her X account.
Her journalistic work since has involved traversing different parts of the world to report on breaking stories and other important global events such as the immigration crisis in the US, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the recent military coups in West Africa.
At the BBC, Byaruhanga now joins another Ugandan Allan Kasujja, who has been working as a presenter of the BCC Radio program “News Day” since 2012.
Her journalistic work since has involved traversing different parts of the world to report on breaking stories and other important global events such as the immigration crisis in the US, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the recent military coups in West Africa.
At the BBC, Byaruhanga now joins another Ugandan Allan Kasujja, who has been working as a presenter of the BCC Radio program “News Day” since 2012.
She is also joining another talented Ugandan presenter and correspondent, Ms Nancy Kacungira, who recently became one of the main presenters and correspondents following the merger of BBC World News and BBC News in April 2023.
