On day 1, other Red Cross Movement Partners, including ICRC and In-Country PNs, were present to present a general perspective on how the Red Cross Movement operates.
The meeting that ended today gave an opportunity to the visiting delegation to visit Mubende district Ebola response operation area(s) and the delegation interacted  with the Red Cross Volunteers, Mubende District leadership, URCS Staff and some beneficiaries.
In her own words today, Janelle Van Etten, the Head of Partnerships at Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated Red Cross and the work done on ground, as well as the unique way of doing work by the Red Cross. “It was good to speak to the Volunteers in Mubende and see by ourselves the enormous work done by the Red Cross beyond what we have been hearing. I also appreciate the way the Red Cross is structured where by there’s local capacity at the grassroot level that allows you to respond when an emergency occurs without necessarily waiting for resources from Kampala. Your branches are an incredible resource.” She added.
The URCS Secretary General Robert Kwesiga appreciated the delegation for the 3 days spent with us and the great discussions held.
“Taking off 3 days to be with us is not small. We can’t take this for granted. On behalf of Uganda Red Cross, i want to thank you, Netherlands MOFA team,  the Netherlands Red Cross, and all colleagues who have worked together to make this visit a success.”
Uganda Red Cross continues to engage different stakeholders in order to grow the Partnerships and Donor Portfolio.
Partnerships are also an opportunity for the National Society to raise resources and deliver on the Red Cross Mandate in Uganda.
