Kin Kariisa is a highly distinguished media executive and Group CEO of Next Media, a prominent multimedia organization in East Africa. With an impressive academic background, Kin has excelled in the fields of statistics, computer engineering, strategic business, and computer security.
Mr. Karisa completed his Bachelor of Statistics degree at Makerere University in Uganda, showcasing his strong analytical and data-driven skills. He furthered his technical expertise by obtaining a Master’s degree in computer engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. To deepen his business acumen, he pursued an MBA in Strategic Business from the United States International University-Kenya. Additionally, Kin conducted postgraduate research in Computer Security at Radbound University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He has also shared his knowledge and expertise as a lecturer at both Makerere University and Radbound University.
Mr Karisa also pursued post graduate courses in Strategic Business Management, Strategic Leadership, Leadership Communication and Strategies for Leading Successful Change Initiatives at Harvard University, Boston USA.
Throughout his career, Kin has held prominent leadership positions, leaving a significant impact on various sectors. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ecobank Uganda, contributing to the growth and development of the financial industry. As the Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters, he played a crucial role in shaping the media landscape in East Africa, advocating for industry progress and collaboration.
In addition to his media and financial ventures, Kin has made notable contributions to the hospitality and telecommunications sectors.
He holds the esteemed position of Chairman at Nile International Hotel, which owns the renowned Serena Kampala Hotel, a distinguished establishment in the hospitality industry. Furthermore, he serves as the Vice Chairman of Igogo Country and Cultural Centre Hotel, highlighting his dedication to preserving cultural heritage.
As the Chairman of Soliton Telmec, a leading telecom and fiber company, Kin has been instrumental in driving advancements in communication infrastructure.
Kin is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and has actively worked on campaigns such as Taasa Obutonde and Tuve Kukavera. These campaigns aim to raise awareness and promote actions to safeguard the environment, reflecting his dedication to making a positive impact beyond his professional endeavors.
Outside of work, Kin enjoys the sport of golf and is an avid golfer. He also demonstrates a strong sense of community service through his involvement as a Rotarian, engaging in philanthropic activities to improve lives and support communities.
With his exceptional accomplishments, diverse expertise, and passion for sustainability and community service, Kin Kariisa continues to lead Next Media Group, driving innovation and transforming the media landscape in East Africa.
