This August, for the first time since 1992, it looks like Manchester United will be kicking off a Premier League campaign without a Premier League winner in their squad.
The departure of David de Gea truly is the end of an era in more ways than one. The man had some absolutely monumental seasons for the club. I shudder to think how much worse the post-Fergie struggles might have been if we didn’t have Dave making save after save to bail us out. For a good 3 or 4 years there, it really wasn’t a stretch to say he was the best goalkeeper in the world.

The situation has undoubtedly been poorly handled by the club. Regardless of his decline in form in recent years, 12 years at one club is an incredible achievement. The man deserved a testimonial, or at the very least, an opportunity to say goodbye to the fans at Old Trafford. But such is life and the brutal nature of what is ultimately a business.
At the end of the day, it feels like the right move for all parties. Dave could seemingly do with a change of scenery, and given the way Ten Hag wants the team to play, Andre Onana seems like a great signing, and the ideal player to help usher in that new style and identity. And with the last players from the Fergie era now gone, it feels like United can finally move on.
Thanks for everything, Dave! Forever and ever a United legend.

…Love him or loathe him De Gea is a good goalkeeper albeit he made errors that cost United and made fans angry. All goalkeepers make unfathomable errors and so let it be with De Gea. Andre Onana, who United are trying to sign, has made serious errors too. To me, it is the case of the devil you know is better than the Angel you don’t know. To David De Gea, I say that, When a man has done his best, only the Angels above can do more.

Rafa Benitez has rejected 20 big offers and chosen growth over money with a move to Celta Vigo. Rafa comes in as a formidable coach who can significantly improve Celta with his tactics, coaching, and management. There’s a good chance now that Veiga might also stay. That would also mean no squad surgery 2 seasons in a row. They don’t have the kind of money that Rafa is used to and will need a tactical approach to have an impact.
Hoping Rafa improves Celta’s ranking as last season was miserable.
