KAMPALA, UGANDA: The body of the former Supreme Court Judge, Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko will be laid to rest on Saturday, July 1, at Jukia Hill Ward, Juba Village in Nebbi Municipality, DailyExpress has learnt.

The announcement of the late’s burial was made by the Judiciary spokesperson, Mr Jameson Karemani on Thursday at a press conference held at his office in Nakasero, Kampala.

“Following the court pronouncement about where the late Justice Stella Arach should be buried which is Nebbi district, the national organising committee has resolved that the late judge will be buried on Saturday after a requiem mass that will be held at Karitus grounds at 10:00 am,” Karemani said.

“Since most of the activities had been held in Kampala which included the special court sitting, the requiem mass and the Parliamentary sitting, the body will depart from Kampala for Nebbi district on Friday,” he added.

According to the new burial programme released, Justice Amoko’s body, which has been lying at A-Plus funeral home in Kampala, will be transported to Nebbi early Friday morning.

A special joint district council sitting at Nebbi Council Hall is scheduled for 2 pm while an overnight vigil at the ancestral home will commence at 6 pm.

On Saturday, July 1st, a requiem mass will be held at Caritas Grounds at 10 am before burial on the same day.

The Judiciary had earlier issued a burial programme for the judge’s burial, but this was put on hold following a conflict over the burial site.

The standoff was between the judge’s relatives and children on one side, and husband, Ambassador James Idule Amoko on the other.
