Mr,Kahwa Hamza, the President Of Uganda Rowing Federation expressed  gratitude for the Successful meeting they held.

“We have managed to come up with a few resolutions” he said..

“One of them is, we are going to write to Madam Batenga who is refusing to  account for federational funds.

She was facilitated but she has failed to appear and hand in the report.

Secondly, she is trying to discourage delegates from attending to Rowing activities. We are giving her a few days to explain herself on why she is behaving like this. We hope she will be able to respond in the rightful manner and everything would be fine.

Rowing is still a young Sport. You will realise that last year, we qualified for the Olympics and became top participants in Africa.

Another thing is, we realised some members are continuously not attending Executive meetings and now the AGM.They need to tell why this is happening.

We have set up a steering Committee to ensure that Rowing activities continue as we ask those members to give us reasons for absenteeism.

Were also trying to see how we can get back boats in our storafe facilities. The moment we get them, all will be well.

Description about Rowing:

UGANDA ROWING FEDERATION (URF)

Rowing involves the propelling of a boat using a fixed oar as a lever. The objective of rowing is for the boat that reaches the finish line first is declared the winner of the race. Reaching the finish line in the quickest possible time requires an astonishing amount of physical and mental strength, high levels of stamina and seamless synchronization when competing in team events.

In modern sports, rowers race against each other either as individuals or in crews of Two, Four or Eight.

The races are divided into sculling and sweep oar. Sculling events use two oars, whilst in sweep the rower holds one. The eight-person crews have a coxswain, who steers the boat and directs the crew, but in all other boats one rower steers by controlling a small rudder with a foot pedal.

Rules of the Sport:
Competitive To avoid being disqualified in rowing competitions, rowers must adhere to the following rules:
• Lane Changing: There are six separate lanes in an Olympic rowing event, with one lane assigned to each boat. Athletes and teams are actually allowed to move across from one lane to another if they desire – provided they do not impede or obstruct another boat whilst doing so.
• False Starts: Boats must not leave the starting line until the firing gun goes off. Athletes/teams are allowed one “false” start (i.e. setting off before they are permitted to do so). If they do this twice, however, they will be disqualified from the race.
• Olympic Medal Winners: The gold, silver and bronze Olympic games medals are awarded to the boats that finish in the top three of the final race, which has six teams/athletes competing.

Players and Equipment:
Boats, Oars, Steering and Rowing Tank

Winning events:
The winner of a rowing race is the individual or team that reaches the finish line first over a distance of 2000 metres for both men’s and women’s events.
