Mjallby AIF midfielder Otto Rosengren admits he “was shocked” to learn of interest from Man Utd and says he’s prepared to “take a stand” if they make an offer.

The Swedish club’s sporting director Hans Larsson confirmed last week that the Red Devils are interested in signing the youngster in the summer transfer window.

Larsson said that although there was nothing “concrete” yet, Man Utd “have been looking at him” with scouts from the Premier League club coming to AIF games “several times” to watch Rosengren.

Erik ten Hag will be looking to build on his good first season as Man Utd boss and he will be hoping the club can back him in the transfer market once again.

Man Utd have won the Carabao Cup, are currently on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League and will play Man City in the FA Cup final in June.

And Sweden under-21 international Rosengren has left nobody in any doubt over his thoughts on interest in his services from Man Utd.

Rosengren told Fotbollskanalen: “It’s nice to hear and it shows that you are doing something well. But I don’t attach too much importance to it.

“It’s quite powerful. But then, of course, you can’t think about that when you’re playing. But when you think about it, it’s quite big.

“Just keep playing my game. It’s hard work that got me here, and I want to keep developing. It’s the same job. You can’t be satisfied anywhere; you have to keep going and then there will be good opportunities.”

Speaking to the Swedish media outlet after Mjallby’s 2-0 defeat to Brommapojkarna on Monday, Rosengren revealed his surprise at United’s interest as he hadn’t even realised they’d been to watch him.

He added: “I didn’t know that club was here, I didn’t even know they had been to Strandvallen. I was shocked when I read about it. I sat at home and saw when it came out, it said that United are scouting me, I was a bit shocked.”

Speaking about different scenarios if the interest from Man Utd turned concrete, Rosengren continued: “There is interest, but it is nothing concrete as far as I know. You have to take a stand if there is something concrete, an offer or something like that. I have a contract until 2025.”
