On Thursday and Friday the National Building Review Board (NRB) Compliance,Enforcement and Legal Teams responded to a call by leadership of Hoima City, following public complaints on building operations failing to meet the building and safety standards. The first building on One Street lacked a building permit and was being constructed using the prohibited Steel and Timber Composite Building Method. The team inspected the building and condoned it off.
The second building under renovation on Old Tooro/Byabachwezi Road had outlived its lifespan and failed the Structural intergrity test performed on its structural elements. It did not also fulfill the complete requirements for approval.
Renovation was stopped immediately, and the site condoned off by NBRB’s enforcement team.
