Speaker Among commits to foster relationship with USPA

The Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among has reiterated her commitment to ensure the relationship between the legislature and the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) continues to thrive.
The Speaker’s message was delivered by Honourable Asumani Basaalirwa, MP Bugiri Municipality, at a friendly soccer match between the two institutions at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Friday last week. The legislators came out 3-1 victors over the sports scribes.
“I am here to deliver the message from Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among. She sent me to tell you that she still stands by her word following the meeting you (USPA executive) had with her in her office,” Basaalirwa, who is also the chairperson of the Parliament Sports Club, stated.
“Hon Among said she will ensure that the relationship between Parliament and USPA will continue to grow and is looking forward to more interactions with you,” Basaalirwa, who was flanked by the MPs team manager Santa Okot added.
On his part, USPA president Moses Alsayed Lubega thanked the Speaker for following up on their meeting a month ago so quickly. He hoped such interactions would also go a long way to address the plight of sports journalists and the sports sector in general.
“This sector is very much in need of subsidies on, especially, equipment which is also very expensive. We hope our continued interactions will be able to lead us to a solution that can address this,” Lubega prayed, also commending the Parliamentary team for a good game displayed.
