MPs sitting on the Parliamentary Budgets committee have rejected the requested 24bn shillings by the ICT Ministry for Mind set change in the next financial year 2023/2024.

This arose after the deputy chairperson of the parliamentary ICT committee Nathan Igeme represented the ministries budget informing them that some of the items like mind set change, UBC, wages, development were less funded.

However MPs who included Ssemuju Nganda, Muwanga Kivumbi and Barnabas Tinkasimire proposed that such ministerial budgets on Mind set change should be denied and money put on repaying government loan interests.

Meanwhile the Mps have rejected the 283bn meant for printing and photocopying in the ministry of ICT in the coming financial year 2023-2024.

Meanwhile Members of Parliament sitting on the same  Committee have called for the merger of UBC with New Vision.

This arose after MPs raised matters of concerns on the incompetence of the broadcaster yet the government injected a lot of funds in the cooperation.

While presenting the budget of UBC for the next financial year 2023/2024 before the budgets committee, the vice chairperson of the parliamentary ICT committee Nathan Igeme said that UBC has a debt of 84bn which they need to pay off.

However some of the committee members have opposed the request proposing that since the government is considering merging entities and ministries, UBC should be incorporated with New vision.
