Hon. Patrick Okabe (MP) Serere and his wife have died in a road accident in Naboa Budaka District.
The accident happened early this morning on 19th December 2022 at 7am.
According to eye witnesses, trailer Number KCX 071K which was heading to Mbale lost control and knocked a Land cruiser number UBK 995F, which belongs to Hon. Okabe.
It is said that MP OKabe who was in the behind seat died on spot, his wife Passed on as she was being rushed to Mbale Hospital in critical conditions.

Statement on Budaka Fatal Accident.
Parliament has learnt with shock about the death of Serere County Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife, which occurred earlier this morning at Naboa on Mbale-Tirinyi road.
Our condolences to the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Members of Parliament, the family of the late, the people of Serere and the country at large.
Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
The territorial police at Budaka has today 19th December 2022 at around 7am, registered a fatal accident, at Nabowa town council, along the Mbale Tirinyi Road, involving motor vehicle reg no UBK 995F, a Toyota land Cruiser, and Isuzu box body registration number KCX 071K, killing on spot, the occupant in the Land Cruiser identified as Hon Okabe Patrick the Member of Parliament Serere constituency, while his wife Chritine Okabe died on the way to Hospital. The Driver only identified as Jacob remains in critical condition at Mbale regional referral hospital.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to the Isuzu box body driver who was speeding, drifted from his side to the side of the Landcruister that was coming from Mbale heading to Iganga and had a head on collision.
The driver of the Fuso box body is on the run after causing the accident.
