Dorothy Kisaka: Today Kampala is joining the rest of the world to celebrate world cities Day. Kampala is hosting an international conference to mark the day under the theme of Resilience in the face of adversity. Kampala is part of WeGO and ASTON the platforms that bring together the Smart cities of the world
Dorothy Kisaka: From a policy stand point, cities must prioritise policies that promote diversity, increase production, export competitiveness and investment in skills development, productive jobs creation and capacity retention
Dorothy Kisaka: We must also collaborate with other cities through different forums such as WeGO and Africa Smart Towns Network (ASTON)
Dorothy Kisaka: Through creation of these collaborative networks between cities we can work to strengthen the capacity of our cities to design and implement solutions to urban challenges
Dorothy Kisaka: In her welcoming remarks to the WeGO , Kisaka highlighted that Kampala is championing a Smart City campaign by leveraging technology to improve service delivery based on the three core pillars of a Smart city, that is technology, infrastructure and people wellbeing.
Dorothy Kisaka: I believe WeGO Executive Committee meeting 2022 will trigger a new discussion for cities’ approach towards inclusiveness and Resilience amidst economic challenges
