Cranes legend Mayanja appointed Uganda Hippos Coach

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations ( FUFA) has announced the appointment of tactician Jackson Mayanja as the interim Head coach of the Uganda U20 Football Nation Team, The Hippos.

This revelation was announced on Tuesday morning by FUFA via their social media platforms.

Mayanja has been jobless since him and Mike Mutebi left Rwandese topflight side Kiyovu Sport in April, 2022.

Mayanja replaces Morley Byekwaso, who is currently has a heavy club schedule with KCCA FC.

The former KCCA, Kagera Sugar, Vipers and Kyetume tactician will be assisted by Simeon Masaba and Noah Kasule Babadi.

It’s also worthy noting that Mayanja also served as assistant coach to Charles Namakola ‘Kalayilayi’ when Cranes won the 2003 CECAFA as well as working under Laszlo Czaba & Bobby Williamson during their spells as national team coaches.

The 53-year old has already joined the Uganda Hippos camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisasi where the squad has been residing for the last few days as they prepare for the AFCON U20 Qualifier tournament in Sudan.
