IEBC chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, announced on Friday night, August 12, that Daniel Musyoka went missing yesterday (August 11), and could not be traced.

    He further added that the Commission could not reach him through his phone as it was off.

    “The returning officer has been reported missing from the Embakasi tallying center. Reports received by the Commission indicated that at around 9 am yesterday, he was escorted to the tallying center by his bodyguard.

    “At around 9:45 am he excused himself to make a phone call but did not return to the office,” Chebukati stated.

    The Commission has since filed a missing persons report at the Embakasi Police Station and has called on the investigative agencies to move with speed and ensure his whereabouts are known.

    “The Commission is deeply concerned about this unfortunate incident and calls upon the relevant security agencies to investigate this matter,” he stated.

    Further, Chebukati announced that Musyoka’s duties were being handled by the Deputy Returning Officer as they wait for the police to complete their investigations.

    The police are yet to issue a statement on the progress of their investigations.

    Chebukati made the announcement during their daily briefings on the verification of the Form 34Bs submitted by RO’s across the country.

    IEBC is currently undertaking the verification of presidential results from the over 40,000 polling stations across the country alongside agents of the four presidential candidates.

    IEBC indicated that it was almost halfway through the process with 290 Form 34Bs already submitted at the national tallying center.

    As we all wait for the presidential results to be released, an IEBC tallying official has been reported missing a few hours ago. His phone has been switched off and there is no clue of what might have happened to him.Photo courtesy, image used for evidence purpose.

    According to the report, the IEBC commission has made it public that a returning officer from Embakasu East constituency has gone missing and his phone switched off. Daniel Musyoka was a tallying official at East African School of Aviation where he vanished yesterday.

    According to the report, Mr Musyoka excused himself out of the tallying center for a phone call but did not return back. The IEBC commission has already called upon the police and the DCI detectives to carry out investigations and find Mr Musyoka. Till now, Mr Musyoka has not yet been found however more investigations are still being carried out
