Deputy President William Ruto has said that anger and hunger will make Kenyans vote for a responsible government.

In a statement on Thursday, the DP said Kenyans are not happy with the direction the country is taking and this will greatly influence their decisions.

Ruto added that the anger and hunger is as a result of the high cost of living and the current fuel prices.

The second in command noted that the fresh and visionary leadership will only come from the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

“Kenyans are not happy because their country is on the wrong path. We are angry and hungry because of the high cost of living and soaring fuel prices,” Ruto said.

“This is the anger that will drive Kenyans to vote for fresh, visionary and responsible government on August 9: Kenya Kwanza.”

This comes in the midst of concerns by many Kenyans over the rising cost of living.

This has also been made the centre of focus in the ongoing campaigns ahead of the August 9 polls.

Both Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, led by Raila Odinga as its flagbearer and Kenya Kwanza led by Ruto have pledged to bring down the cost of living if elected into office.

Fuel prices have also been rising with last change (June 14, 2022) seeing a sh9 increase in the cost of fuel.

On Thursday, Kenyans expect the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) to announce new rates, which will either go higher or decrease by a few shillings.
