Kampala, Uganda: Learning materials and water tank have been given to this school as part of charitable work done by Rotary where it exists.

While handing over these materials and a water tank, Prof. Fredrick Muyodi the Director of Projects at Rotary Club of Makerere Rainbow Kampala mentioned that as part of their charitable work, they inspected area of Kalerwe in outskirts of the city Kampala and found that accessibility to clean water was a problem and in bout 5 schools they piloted, Kalerwe Parents School was in great need.
Muyodi told this News Website that they have donated a plastic 10,000litre water procured at approximately 2.5million and 5 text books for each of the 4 subjects for their classes (P.5 to P.7) totaling to 60 that costed them over UGX 1Million.

He said they have done this to curb lack of clean water in the school as well helping the school administration with learning materials which were not enough to cater for better learning in the school.
Asked why they chose a private school, Muyodi clarified that these schools entirely rely on input of the founders unlike government ones hence being affected by many challenges.
He is optimistic that the little support rendered to the schools will have a great impact in changing the image of the school.

Nakiyimba Rehema Sophia, the Director Kalerwe Parents School expressed gratitude over Rotary Club of Makerere Rainbow Kampala hand to the school saying they have been grappling with a challenge of water and teaching materials.

She said that their metallic tank broke down some time back therefore having received a new one, water challenge will be done away with.
She added that they are also facing the challenge of flooding as a school so they are looking forward for more support from Rotary and other well-wishers to see their compound worked on in a way of avoiding the challenge.
She promised officials from Rotary Club of Makerere Rainbow Kampala that the administration will work tirelessly to see all that has been donated to them are put into proper use and are sustained.

Kakuru Edson, a member of Rotary Club of Makerere Rainbow Kampala told this News Website that one of their mandate is to see that they extend charity services to people in areas of their operations.
He added that Kalerwe of all their area of operation stood out for immediate attention and it is the reason they decided to do this there.
He said that their interventions will not stop till the society is transformed to the better.
