Arsenal transfer round-up: Dusan Vlahovic contingency plan as first January signing made

It’s been a relatively quiet start to the January transfer window for Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta seems to be biding his time.

The Gunners are likely to be the most active side inside the top four in this window as they look to solidify their Champions League spot.

The north Londoners are in the market for a striker, specifically Dusan Vlahovic, with speculation on the Serbian ramping up in the past 24 hours.

There have also been reports that Georginio Wijnaldum could be on his way back to the Premier League with Arsenal interested in a loan deal for the former Liverpool hero as his future at Paris Saint-Germain is up in the air.

Here are all the latest news and rumours regarding Arteta’s men.

Arsenal sign West Brom youngster

Arsenal have finally completed their first signing of the January window, although it isn’t any of the big names that were mentioned above.

The Gunners have reportedly captured West Brom teenager Lino Da Cruz Sousa as the Emirates club add reinforcements to their young core.

The Brazilian left-back has caught the eye of Arteta for WBA’s Under-18s side this season.

And Arsenal have snapped up the 16-year-old, according to football.london.

Arteta’s contingency plan for Vlahovic

Mikel Arteta has drawn up a three-man shortlist if a deal for Dusan Vlahovic collapses.

The Gunners have reportedly made an approach to sign the Serbian, but that has been rejected as he wants to explore his options in the summer.

Fiorentina have slapped a £58million price tag on their prized asset who has 18 months left on his current deal, according to Daily Mail.

And the report claims the 21-year-old is also demanding a £300,000-per-week wage wherever he ends up next.

Arsenal would prefer to acquire the striker this month, but the summer is not of the question either.

And if the north Londoners are still looking for a frontman at the end of the season, CBS Sports claims Alexander Isak, Jonathan David and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will emerge as targets.

Wijnaldum price revealed

Arsenal have been told it will cost them in the region of £15million if they want to sign Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Gunners are keen on a loan move for the Dutchman after he made it clear he wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain to find regular playing time.

The midfielder has been on the fringes of Mauricio Pochettino’s side since joining in the summer after departing Liverpool as a free agent.

It’s claimed Wijnaldum is open to a return to the Premier League with Arsenal and Newcastle among the teams keen on a loan deal, according to Sky Sports, but PSG are not willing to entertain a short-term move.

A permanent move is not out of the question, however, and Wijnaldum would be available for around £15m, according to Fichajes.
