KAMPALA, UGANDA: Minister Harriet Ntabazi calls for proper collaboration between Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) if traders are to benefit from their operations. This she said during KACITA at 20 years cerebrations on Friday.

Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC) Hon. Harriet Ntabazi says failure of connection between MDAs has contributed a lot in slowing traders operations due to the bureaucratic tendencies and lack of clear assessment especially by Uganda Revenue Authority while levying tax.
She adds, the Ministry is working on expanding market in the region and calls traders to harness the capacity to feed it while putting focus on the required standards.

She called on traders to always appreciate dialogue in case of challenges not striking as this may seduce other traders in the countryside to get into violence that may at the end cause loss of property.

At the same function was State Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye who assured of ministry’s effort in getting rid of hawkers on the streets of the Central Business District (CBD) as it has been a cry for long.
He called on traders to fill the gaps between importation, jobs and production if they are to have a competitive advantage.
He informed traders that the government has so far released 200 Billion Uganda Shillings as Covid-19 Relief Fund to traders and that the Ministry is working on modules of accessibility by traders.

Thaddeus Musoke the Acting Chairperson of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) while delivering his remarks called on traders in the countryside to subscribe to the Association emphasizing that one voice will aid in averting challenges that ace traders in the country.
He also called line ministries to quickly effect their promise of chasing hawkers out of streets as they have contributed a lot in crumbling their businesses.

The cerebrations attracted many partners who are part of KACITA and these included K-Roma Ltd manufacturers of Bella wines and juice, Stanbic Bank, Housing Finance Bank, Mpoma Schools, Uganda Insurers Association, Uganda Airlines, Umeme Ltd, Statewide Insurance Company, Tagy Tv, BBS TV, UBC TV, Harris International, Uganda Railways among many.
This News Agency spoke to Doreen Nambatya, the Acting Ag. Sales and Marketing at Uganda Airlines and highlighted on new developments at hand especially in this festive season.

She says, they have organized travel packages to South Africa, Dubai, Mombasa and Zanzibar and are planning to open new routes to London, Mumbai and Guangzhou.
Nambatya says, they are modeling ways of considering local foods and delicacies on the national carrier only if its on order and conforms to the international standards.
She applauded KACITA for the collaboration with the Airlines by providing support of traders who use the National Carrier.
The Association is so far having members not only in Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs but also in the countryside.
