Following the continued power blackouts in Zimbabwe, the situation has forced the country’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa to sack the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Joram Gumbo.

Reports indicate that Mr. Gumbo has been replaced by Fortune Chasi, the Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister while he was transferred to the President’s office as a Minister in charge of implementation and monitoring performance of government departments.

The state-owned power firm said on Monday there would be blackouts of between five and eight hours a day because of a drop-in output at its largest hydro plant and ageing coal-fired generators.
