Zimbabwe VP in India for treatment

HARARE, Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constatino Chiwenga has flown to India to seek treatment, government has said.

The news comes in days after he dismissed reports that he was airlifted to South Africa for treatment.

On social media, deputy information minister for Energy Mutodi said the VP was recovering well from a minor abdominal ailment in the Indian capital, Delhi.

Chiwenga, a former head of Zimbabwe’s military played a pivotal role in ousting former President Robert Mugabe in 2017.
