The RAW Women’s Champion made an emotional appearance on Monday night to reveal her pregnancy and vacate her title to Asuka.
She came down the ramp with the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase – won by ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ – and thanked fans for ‘carrying her into history’.
Lynch began to cry as she revealed ‘she has to go away for a while before Asuka’s music hit and she entered the ring.
Lynch also announced on the show, to the surprise of new champion Asuka, that the briefcase hoisted above the ring during the women’s Money in the Bank match at Sunday night’s pay-per-view was not for a shot at the title but rather the strap itself.
“You go be a warrior,” Lynch told Asuka, “because I’m going to be a mother.”
Asuka congratulated Lynch and the two hugged. Becky Lynch got emotional and left the ring as Asuka continued her celebration to end the segment.
Lynch and her fiancee, WWE superstar Seth Rollins, learned of their pregnancy in April,she told People. There were set to marry in May but have postponed their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic. Lynch said she has no idea when she will return to the ring and is not focused on the next chapter of her career at this time.
Lynch will be forced away from the ring for an extended period of time due to the pregnancy, this ending her run with the title after an astounding 399 days as champion. Lynch’s reign is the second-longest with the women’s title in modern WWE history behind only Trish Stratus (448 days).
A few weeks ago, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins had revealed that they will be taking some time off from the WWE after WrestleMania 36 or Money in the Bank 2020. Though the couple had not revealed the reason for taking the break, some fans had said that the couple is planning to have a baby.
