Last Month, Madagascar’s president Andry Rajoelina launched a herbal drink that they said could cure corona virus. Although the president said that he had confidence that the cure could work in curing the coronavirus which has spread through the whole world, WHO had previously warned that the drink could not be allowed to be used for curing corona virus since it had not passed clinical tests.
So far, the country of around 26 million people has not experienced any death arising from corona virus as they still insist that the cure that was developed from artemisia spp plant has the ability to cure corona virus completely.
WHO has said that it is willing to work with Madagascar in fighting corona virus. According to the tweet sent by @MoetiTshidi, to WHO African Region official Twitter handle, WHO’s Regional Director for Africa, Dr Matshidiso Moeti has made it known that they are willing to work with Madagascar if they let their coronavirus herbal drink undergo clinical tests to see if it is safe to be used for corona virus treatment or not.
“We are advising the government of Madagascar to take this product through a clinical trial and we are prepared to collaborate with them. We would caution and advise countries against adopting a product that has not been through clinical tests for safety and efficacy” Dr Moeti posted to WHO African Region.
