Uganda’s Labour Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana released

The State Minister for Labour, Mwesigwa Rukutana has been granted a Shs 4 million cash bail.

Rukutana has been at Kitalya Prison since September 7, 2020 having been charged with attempted murder, assault, malicious damage and threatening violence in the heat of the and NRM Primaries in Rushenyi, Ntungamo District.

Rukutana’s lawyers who were led by Owen Murangira applied for his bail and on Tuesday, Ntungamo Magistrates Court granted the request.

Rukutana has been stopped from stepping in Ntungamob district especially Rushenyi.

State Minister for Labor Mwesigwa Rukutana has been declared the winner in the Rushenyi county NRM Primary elections for the Parliamentary flag bearer in the 2021 general election.

Rukutana has defeated his closest opponent Naome Kabasharira after tallying votes from over 12 polling stations that had not been counted.
