UGANDA: Tamale Mirundi rewarded with a brand new car by the President.

President Yoweri Museveni has awarded his former press secretary a brand new car, allegedly worthy UGX.300m

“I worked for a lot for him. I am a good friend of the President. This was like a replacement because my car was too old,” Mirundi said while appearing on NBS Television on Tuesday.

The black Mitsubishi Pajero with registration number UG 4008C is a gift for the efforts Mirundu while still at State House where he worked for 12 years as a Presidential Press Secretary.

Mirundi also believes that the president awarded his for his stance against mafias.

Mirundi confirmed that he was also handed the card to his  new gift unlike others that have been given cars by the President.

“I have always been a friend to the President. The only problem is that he is not reachable but the President never forgets those that serve him well,” Mirundi said.

Mirundi was reassigned to become a presidential adviser on media and replaced by his long time deputy Lindah Nabusayi.

He made a name for himself by ridiculing those who challenged Museveni. In 2009, at the height of riots over government’s refusal to let Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi visit Kayunga, Mirundi supported the government position.

He also justified the government’s decision to temporarily shut down four radio stations. Mirundi is a Muganda by ethnicity.

Mirundi, while serving under the President, he authored four books.
