Uganda Red Cross has today completed and handed over a complete Health Centre III facility to Government of Uganda. Bunambutye HC3 has been constructed by Uganda Red Cross with funding from Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health.
The Health facility will support families resettled in Bunambutye who were displaced by floods and landslides in Bududa in 2018.
In 2018, the people of Bududa District were displaced by a massive landslide that led to the death of 46 people, destroyed 180 houses and directly affected over 3,000 people who were internally displaced.
HE the President directed the Office of the Prime Minister to lead responsible government entities to ensure the displaced people of Bugisu sub region are resettled. Consequently, the displaced persons were resettled in Bunambutye, Bulambuli district.
One of the activities which was assigned to the Ministry of Health (MOH) was to construct, equip and operationalize a Health Centre III at Bunambutye Resettlement camp. With funding from Government, the MOH entrusted Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) to construct the health facility.
Under the supervision and guidance of MOH, URCS embarked on the construction of the health facility in August 2020 and have now completed the works.
The constructed structures include:
1 Out Patient Department block
1 General Maternity ward.
1 Twin staff house.
1 block of 2 stance VIP Li
