Uganda Police launches an electronic Express Penalty Scheme

KAMPALA, Uganda

Uganda Police has launched the electronic Express Penalty Scheme in which new portable electronic machines and printers will replace receipt books.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj.Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi, the new system will help encourage transparency as well as cracking down on defaulters.

A total of 1400 traffic officers have been trained to use the new system which will help traffic police officers issue and print receipts to offenders.

Defaulters can also be tracked using the system because driving permit numbers and number plates of vehicles are captured by the system.
