Makerere University Deputy Ag. Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration) has resigned from the top job at the University.
Prof Bazeyo submitted his resignation and prior informed various stakeholders at the Premier University.
“I am writing to inform you that today 8th October 2020, I have submitted my resignation from the Position of Ag DVC (F & A) to the appointing authority,” Dr. Bazeyo wrote, in an email.
“I have done this for personal and family reasons and it takes immediate effect,’ the email added.
Prof Bazeyo also opted out of the search for the next Deputy Vice Chancellor of the same Position
This comes barely a month after he scooped a multi-billion dollar grant at the University in health related research which piped in amidst protests from some university staff members on what they called ‘illegal’ appointment of the embattled Professor as Deputy Vice Chancellor.
According to Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Bazeyo’s grant is the largest single grant win by an academician in the history of Uganda.
