Tanzania’s Finance Minister Philip Mpango has announced a 25% tax on all imported wigs and hair extensions and a 10% tax on those made in the country in a bid to raise other revenue avenues for the country.

The new policy comes into effect at the beginning of July.

Mr. Mpango said that most imported wigs are worn by women with the cheapest raging from $4 (£3.40) but they can go up to $130.
