VICTORIA, Seychelles -- A 43 year old visitor was on Saturday night admitted to the Isolation and Treatment Centre in Perseverance after testing positive for COVID-19The new positive case was detected by the Public Health Authority after routine exit screening of passengers traveling outside of Seychelles.He arrived in the country from Dubai on Thursday 3rd September 2020 and was travelling with his partner who has tested negative and is asymptomatic. VICTORIA, Seychelles, July 18, 2020/ -- On 13 July 2020, Seychelles received its third batch of medical equipment to combat the COVID-19 pandemic from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The consignments received consist of two Biosafety cabinets, which are vitally important in the handling and processing of infectious samples, such as SARS-COV-2, the causative virus for COVID-19. Among other equipment received were; a Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine, three vortex machines, a microcentrifuge and a scanner for cryotubes, all useful in the PCR process for the detection of COVID-19. The donated medical materials include 500 infrared thermometers, which are needed desperately by local schools and institutions, 2,000 medical N95 masks, 10,000 surgical masks, 2,000 disposable protective clothing, 2,000 medical protective goggles, 10,000 disposable sterilized rubber surgical gloves and 10,000 medical isolation shoe covers.
